"It Needs an Source of Instant Foreign Exchange to Encourage the Indonesian Economy" According to BI
WartaJurnal. . Bank Indonesia (BI) said the government needed an instant source of foreign exchange to encourage domestic economic growth. One potential source of instant foreign exchange is the tourism sector.
"To overcome the current account deficit, it is necessary to find foreign exchange sources that are instantaneous," said Deputy BI of Surakarta Representative Office for Regional Economic Advisory and Development Taufik Amrozy in Solo, Central Java, Friday.
He said that so far there have been enough examples of countries that have succeeded in relying on the sector for a better economy, including Malaysia and Thailand. According to him, the Indonesian government has been quite successful. Evidently, in the 2017 "World Top 25 Destination", Bali was ranked first.
At that time, continued Taufik, Bali was able to defeat New York, Paris, and London which had been the favorite tourist destination of tourists. "This means that Indonesia is able to compare Bali as a tourist destination that is worthy of being visited by foreign tourists. Seeing this success, the government is currently working on 10 other tourist destinations called 'New Bali'," he said.
The 10 tourist destinations are Lake Toba, Belitung, Tanjung Lesung, Thousand Islands, Borobudur Temple, Mount Bromo, Mandalika, Komodo Island, Wakatobi National Park, and Morotai.
In line, Head of BI Surakarta Representative Office Bandoe Widiarto said the tourism sector continued to be encouraged to become one of the sources of economic growth. "But indeed until now there are still homework that must be completed, namely accessibility, amenities, attractions, and promotions," he said.
Meanwhile, until the end of this year BI predicted domestic economic growth in the range of 5-5.4 percent. As for Soloraya, it predicts the rate of economic growth in the range of 5.3-5.7 percent.
